The SENER Foundation has launched the call for papers of the third SENER Foundation Best Doctoral Thesis Awards. This annual prize gives recognition to the highest levels of research in the scientific and technological fields where the engineering and technology group SENER is active.
To be eligible for the award, applicants must have completed a doctorate in the year 2014 at a European university in one of the following scientific-technological fields: Aerospace, Power and Process, Infrastructures and Transport or Marine.
There will be one single award with a prize of €12,000 given to the author of the winning thesis, and an additional sum of €3,000 will be allocated to the doctoral advisor(s). The decision by the panel of judges will be announced in the first quarter of 2015.
Submissions must be sent to the SENER Foundation [Calle de Severo Ochoa 4 (PTM), Tres Cantos, Spain 28760] by 1:30 pm on December 23, 2014.
Submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria: firstly, relevance and potential application; secondly, quality of the thesis, impact on scientific media (journals, patents, etc.) as well as any prizes or accolades; and finally, clarity of presentation. As in previous years, the panel of judges will comprise three university professors from the competition’s scientific-technological fields, two doctors from SENER’s technical unit, patrons of the SENER Foundation who hold doctorates, and both the director and secretary of the SENER Foundation.
